The new Bancontact-Visa Debit card replaces the current Maestro debit card at no extra cost and remains the card with which payments for your day-to-day purchases are immediately taken out of your current account, or ‘debited’.
We are all using electronic means for our day-to-day purchases more and more, both in store and online. The new Bancontact–Visa Debit card enables secure payments in far more places - both in stores all over the world and online – thanks to a partnership between our bank and Visa.
You can use this debit card wherever you see the Visa and/or the Bancontact logo. And by scanning the back of the card, you can easily log into our Easy Banking App.
During the course of the year, we will send you a new card free of charge. You do not have to do anything. Your PIN code remains unchanged. The only thing is that the first time you use the card, it must be for a PIN transaction in a store or at an ATM. Only then will you be able to make contactless or online payments, as well.
And perhaps there is no need to repeat this, but security is paramount: your bank will never ask you for your personal codes or to send back your old card. If this happens, then it is attempted fraud. When in doubt, please forward the suspect message to phishing@bnpparibasfortis.com. And please do call us should questionable transactions seem to have occurred in your account.
