Did you know that at BNP Paribas Fortis, half of all the instalment loans we grant are used to buy vehicles? Of those auto loans, one in four is used to buy an environmentally friendly vehicle. These figures come from an in-house survey,
which also shows that the average customer taking out an green auto loan is 48 years old and borrows €16,770. The average monthly repayment is €314 and the average loan term is 55 months. In addition, two thirds of the environmentally friendly cars bought with these loans are registered in Wallonia and Brussels.
Only 2% of all new consumer credit is used for “soft mobility”, i.e. bicycles, electric bikes, electric mopeds, electric scooters and hoverboards. However, that small percentage is due to the fact that these solutions are relatively inexpensive.
The average person taking out a loan to buy an electric bike is aged 47, and borrows €3,333. The average monthly repayment is €125 and the average loan term is 27 months. 80% of our customers who have taken out a loan for an e-bike live in Northern Belgium.
