A partner to the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition for 30 years

At BNP Paribas Fortis, we are committed to supporting young talent and making culture as widely accessible as possible. The fact that we have been a loyal partner to the Queen Elisabeth Competition for 30 years now is one of the best examples of this.

The Queen Elisabeth Competition is one of the most prestigious music competitions in the world. Since 1937, it has been a springboard to an international career for many high-quality classically trained musicians. This short compilation video (35 seconds) made to mark the occasion of our 30 years together gives a flavour of what it’s like:

Incidentally, we don’t just support the competition financially. Every year, we also give one or more of the laureates a helping hand. We organise a concert tour for them for clients throughout Belgium, and release a CD with their best moments during the competition. In this way, we quite literally give these young virtuosos a stage, and launch them in Belgium.

Accessible culture

Our partnership with the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition also gives us the opportunity to make culture more widely accessible, especially among young people. Every year, and this with the help of a number of educational institutions, we let around 500 young people experience the competition for free. This promotes both classical music, and the Queen Elisabeth Competition, to our ambassadors of tomorrow.

Long-term partnerships

The Queen Elisabeth Competition is one of the pillars of our bank’s cultural sponsorship policy, which also includes La Monnaie, BOZAR, Flagey and the Belgian film world. We focus primarily on long-term partnerships, and have a similar approach to sponsorship in sports. The BNP Paribas Group is, for example, a structural partner of tennis worldwide.
