New appointments at BNP Paribas Fortis’ Executive Committee

On 1 June 2024, the composition of BNP Paribas Fortis’ Executive Committee will evolve. Franciane Rays and Lieve De Mol will join as new members and become respectively Chief Financial Officer and Head of Client Service Centre, while Khatleen Pauwels will become Chief Compliance Officer.

Franciane Rays succeeds Pierre Bouchara as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). After three years as CFO of BNP Paribas Corporate & Investment Banking, she will again become CFO of BNP Paribas Fortis, a role she successfully performed from 2018 to 2021.

Khatleen Pauwels, Head of Client Service Centre (CSC) and member of the ExCo since 1 January 2020, will become Chief Compliance Officer succeeding Christophe Galimard subject to regulatory approval. Khatleen Pauwels has spent the last four years transforming the bank’s service and operations departments into a client-centric service centre supporting all business lines.

Lieve De Mol in turn succeeds Khatleen Pauwels as Head of Client Service Centre and also joins the Executive Committee. Lieve has successfully led the major integration project of bpost bank over the past three years. Prior to that, she was Head of Hello bank!.

Biographies

  • After graduating from EM Lyon in 1994, Franciane Rays started her career at Arthur Andersen and then Ernst & Young in audit and finance consulting. She joined the finance group of BNP Paribas in 2011, where she led several projects before managing the group’s regulatory liquidity. In 2018 she was appointed CFO of BNP Paribas Fortis. She is currently CFO of the CIB department in the BNP Paribas group.
  • Khatleen Pauwels obtained a Master’s degree in Commercial Engineering from EHSAL in Brussels (now known as KU Leuven-campus Brussels) in 2000. In 2007, she joined Fortis Bank as IT Sourcing Engagement Manager, and in 2010 became Head of the BNP Paribas Fortis IT Resource Management and Strategic Sourcing team. From 2013, she coordinated a number of channel and CRM improvement initiatives before being appointed Head of the Channels & Data Management operational teams in 2015. In 2018, she took charge of the operational department dealing with Customers and Accounts Management. From January 2020, she was appointed Head of Client Service Centre and also joined the Executive Committee.
  • Lieve De Mol graduated from Ghent University in 1999 with a Master’s degree in Political and Social Sciences. She worked in various consultancy positions before becoming a project manager at BNP Paribas Fortis in 2006. In 2012, she became International Program Director Cards, and in 2014 joined Hello bank! Belgium. Initially responsible for Sales & Marketing, she was appointed Head of Hello bank! Belgium in 2017. In 2019, she became Program Director of the New Client Servicing Centre and in March 2021, Head of the bpost bank Integration Office. In this role she was responsible for the integration of bpost bank into BNP Paribas Fortis.
