A sub-fund of BNP Paribas Funds Luxembourg SICAV, BNP Paribas Multi-Asset Thematic is an internationally-diversified fund offering exposure to major global structural trends by combining allocations to equity and fixed income.
Our future is being shaped by powerful long-term trends, with environmental challenges such as climate change, population growth and changing living standards raising important questions about sustainability. In addition, digital and technological transformation are catalysts for innovation in many areas, such as healthcare and energy transition. These major driving forces that are changing the world of today and tomorrow offer considerable investment opportunities, and BNP Paribas Multi-Asset Thematic aims to take advantage of these sources of long-term growth by investing in companies that are designing innovative solutions.
BNP Paribas Multi-Asset Thematic capitalises on a combination of three key themes:
• Sustainability: energy transition, environmental protection, sustainable consumption and social issues related to inclusive growth;
• Innovation and disruptive technology: opportunities offered by digital transformation and healthcare innovation;
• Geopolitics and economics: transitioning to a post-pandemic world and China's role in the global economy.
BNP Paribas Multi-Asset Thematic offers flexible multi-asset allocation, diversified globally by region and sector, adjusted according to market conditions. The strategy combines exposure to equity markets (around two thirds of the portfolio) with lower volatility fixed income exposure (around one third) in order to mitigate risk.
The fund is invested across BNPP AM’s range of actively-managed thematic funds, as well as ETFs, and may also include exposure to externally managed strategies in order to access specific thematic diversification. It benefits from BNPP AM’s wide-ranging expertise, enabling simultaneous investment in funds such as BNP Paribas Energy Transition, BNP Paribas Easy Blue Economy ETF, BNP Paribas Disruptive Technology and BNP Paribas Green Bond.
BNP Paribas Multi-Asset Thematic is managed within BNPP AM’s Multi Asset, Quantitative & Solutions (MAQS) investment group, with the investment team using an active and flexible allocation process to express strong convictions through a concentrated portfolio of thematic funds, while controlling overall allocation according to the desired risk level. The investment process combines BNPP AM's advanced quantitative analysis capabilities with dynamic assessment of market environments to take advantage of temporary cyclicality within themes.
Denis Panel, Head of MAQS, comments:
“The launch of BNP Paribas Multi Asset Thematic is aligned with our leadership in thematic investment, in particular across sustainable strategies, as well as our long-standing multi asset expertise. The fund is part of a new generation of thematic investment solutions, investing in equities as well as in a more innovative way in fixed income, and is exposed to the major structural trends of a globalised economy which are expected to shape the market in the future. It is expected to be of interest to savers as a first introduction to thematic investing."
