On 25 November 2012 Historium will open to the public on the Markt at Bruges. Historium is not just one more museum. It’s a fascinating experience that will take the visitor on an amazing, multi-sensory journey around the glorious city that was Bruges in 1435.

A visit to Historium is a journey in time which takes you back to the Bruges of the Middle Ages. At that time, Bruges was a thriving international port.  It was also a hotbed of art, where the painter Jan Van Eyck was busy creating the masterpieces which would come down to us through the centuries.

The combination of film clips, magnificent decor, special effects and richly atmospheric music, coupled with a tale of long-ago love, will bring to life for the visitor an experience which fills all the senses – not just sight and sound but also smell, touch and taste.

In addition to the museum visit, you will be able to follow a special Historium itinerary that will take you around some of the many truly magnificent locations which the ‘Venice of the North’ has in store for the visitor.

The support which BNP Paribas Fortis has given to this superb project confirms once again our genuine commitment to the cultural life of Belgium. At Historium, history and romance are brought to life in a truly magical place using the latest technology and the Bank is delighted to have played an active role in its creation.
