2.3.3. QUEEN ELISABETH

The Queen Elisabeth Competition (QEC) is one of the world’s most demanding and prestigious classical music competitions. Every year, it attracts virtuoso violinists, pianists, singers and cellists from all over the world. Through our partnership with the QEC, we strive to make classical music accessible to everyone, and particularly to young people.

After each year’s competition, we organise a series of private concerts in which one or more prize-winners perform for BNP Paribas Fortis customers from all across Belgium. In this way, we help these talented young musicians gain experience of performing on stage and give a boost to their fledgling careers. We also give each prize-winner a personalised CD featuring the highlights of their performances during the competition, a unique tool for promoting their talent as performers in Belgium and abroad.

Generating interest in the competition among young people

In collaboration with several partners working in the educational field, BNP Paribas Fortis invites around 500 young people to attend a semi-final concert every year. This allows them to find out what the QEC is all about, so that they will act as ambassadors for the competition in future.
