La Monnaie/De Munt Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its 250th anniversary, BNP Paribas Fortis has been in existence for 200 years and the collaboration between La Monnaie/De Munt and the bank has had a fine history of 40 years. This makes it an anniversary year par excellence, with a host of shared values such as ambition, innovation, creativity, excellence, respect and, above all, passion.
Besides these values, it is also our bank’s mission to enable people to grow and develop their talents. Enable people to grow. Within the partnership with La Monnaie/De Munt, this is fully reflected in the MM Academy, which was created in 2015. The MM Academy is a training programme that gives conservatory students a chance to get a taste of professional life. A specific support for the development of young talent.
BNP Paribas Fortis also plays an explicit role in the context of La Monnaie/De Munt’s youth policy. The rejuvenation and diversification of La Monnaie/De Munt's audience is an important motive. Together, we want to lower the threshold for young people up to the age of 30 with considerably reduced rates. In this way, young people can also get to know the world of opera.
The cooperation with La Monnaie/De Munt is based on loyalty and mutual respect. Even in difficult times we were there for each other, such as during the long renovation works in 2016–2017, when our customers were able to enjoy opera in the MM Palace tent on Tour & Taxis, and during the pandemic. Or to use an alliteration, culture is a crucial sector for BNP Paribas Fortis.
Supporting culture by facilitating access to it is also Positive Banking.
